I've got a story in the Spring 2016 issue of Hunger Mountain journal of the arts. Wahoo! It's called "Shoes," and it's excerpts from my novel-in-progress of the same name. The story is set in the same world as, and after the events of, "Cinderella." (They're big into shoes in that kingdom.) It's a bit of an ensemble cast -- it was originally a musical I wrote with composer Christopher Cote. Shoes the musical was produced a few times, always a lot of fun. I still have the foamboard sign for the Cow & Kettle Tavern from the very first production!
You may be surprised to learn I used to write lyrics, including for Shoes. Yep. That's right. And they rhymed so hard:
Tell me about kissing the stars!
THE STARS ARE IMMENSE BALLS OF GAS OUT IN SPACE
THERE’S LOTS OF THEM FLOATING ALL OVER THE PLACE
AND IF YOU SHOULD KISS ONE YOU’D BURN OFF YOUR FACE.
Anyway, keep an eye here for updates on Shoes (the novel).
